TIME Magazine Archive Article -- How Apple Does It -- Oct. 24, 2005

My main points:
1) Control. Someone at the end of the discussion says 'that's the way it's going to be, discussion over.'
2) Deep collaboration. Everyone needs to work together on making the stuff succeed.
3) Ignore the nay-sayers.
4) The most important one: Winning is great, but losing is not bad. Being lame is.

However, that doesn't mean there isn't a huge opportunity in location-based services for mobile devices. One big area is in using the handset as a gateway between the digital and analog worlds. In most cases so far, this has been seen in things like scanning barcodes with cameraphones to get more information (such as comparison shopping prices) on products being sold. Boardbug is a baby monitor watch/feeding time/pulse checker. I've had many a dinner conversation about the fact that someone should make this product. Good to see it around, now if I can only get one imported into the States to check it out.
