infoSync : A mobile gateway of your own "The computer is the network" finally moves to cellphones. Haven't we seen some ideas like this before (see Sun circa '85, '90 and '95).
The "thinclient" cellphone is an innovative idea, and offloading the increasing number of applications required of a cellphone to a central server may prove beneficial - but I don't quite see it yet. Is there really going to be significant cost savings? (Danger's Hiptop has some of this functionality and claims it helps them get to the $200 price point)
One of the possible exceptions is that if it could pool cellphone minutes and then dole them out on a localized basis to each cellphone. Will this be the next step, or will it go the way of the way of the thin-client PC?

Danger signs away wireless risk Danger announced distribution deals for the Hiptop with T-Mobile (voicestream) for the US and Orange for the UK (and likely Europe), but pushed back the launch to the fall. With all that wireless bandwidth, you would think that wireless carriers would love product innovation. The Hiptop is one of the very few innovation cell-based products inching towards market.
